Record form for inspections

If you’ve had a visit from a health and safety inspector, it’s a good idea to write some notes to help you to recall the details at a later date. Use our Record Form for Inspections for this purpose.

Why you need the form

Following a visit you can be sure that the inspector will be writing their own detailed notes. You should do the same. Your notes will help jog your memory if you need to review what happened during the visit, e.g. when replying to the inspector’s correspondence. What’s covered?

The form begins with the basic details, such as the date, name of the inspector, inspector’s job title and organisation, plus the name of the manager or director who hosted the visit. The other sections refer to the detail of the visit asking, for example, which documents and areas of the premises were viewed, what concerns were raised by the inspector and what the learning points were.
