Furlough scheme deadline fast approaching

The Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme (CJRS) is closing soon. What do you need to do and by when?

The CJRS was set up to encourage employers to furlough staff instead of making them redundant. The scheme will close on 31 October 2020. You must make your final claims for periods ending before that date by 20 November 2020 to avoid a potential penalty. Additionally, if you believe you have overclaimed a grant you must notify HMRC using the steps set out here. If you haven’t claimed enough you should contact HMRC before 30 November 2020 to discuss an increased claim. Further information is available here.

Once the scheme closes, further payments may be available under the less generous Job Support Scheme.
