Addressing an
employee grievance
- First of all, ensure you
have read both the Acas Code of Practice on
Disciplinary and Grievance Procedures (“the Acas Code”)
and your own company grievance rules and procedures.
- Be aware that both
employer and employee should follow the Acas Code. Otherwise, if
either party has unreasonably failed to comply with any of the
provisions of the Acas Code, the employment tribunal has the
discretion to adjust any compensation award by up to 25% (depending
on which party was at fault), if it is just and equitable to do
so.
